Always nice to see photography in a print magazine, here a 7 pages story that I shooted in fall 2011 in Wallis.

6 days on the road with the Scarlet. Annecy (France),Venice (Italy), London (UK). Every think worked perfectly, audio, workflow in the field, and camera. Special thanks to the Mavic Crew and my friend photographer Loris von Siebenthal.

Less than one week after I got the Scarlet I had real test on special project for a magazine where I tried every configuration of the camera.
Everything went super fine I just had minor bugs with autofocus, the handle it’s so great makes the work a lot easier if you compare hddslrs.
This day I test a bunch of gear (thanks for Yannick Flühmann from Light+Byte)
I tested
Cinevate slider: solid enough for the Red and really well made I will buy one
Lite panels: great light for motion
Broncolor: did a couple test and the results are great.
Now I am on poste production for this project and I am as exited as I was shooting in the field.

Here is my first edit with my Scarlet, I played with my new toy in our workshop next to the studio.

First impression it’s so brilliant I am pretty new in the video industry but for me it’s a new born. Handle and film with the beast it’s a pure joy. Image quality stunning.

So I spent an evening with Mrs 715 and all my lenses 14mm2.8, 24-105mm4, 50mm1.2, 100mm2.8 macro, 200mm2.8, 300mm4. I shooted a low light scene at 1600 asa to checked out how it looks. The next morning I did a quick edit with premiere 5.5 and grading with magic bullet. I put myself in a working situation to be sure I will be ready for my first job (tomorrow) with the Red.

Audio it’s still a bit more complex with my actual set up I record only mono, I need toexport the audio via Redcine X and re-import the files to Premiere it’s longer but still fine. Nobody knows why CS5.5 doesn’t support audio from Red Epic/Scarlet.

We have been to the sihh to meet some key people in the watch industry and more appointments are coming. 2012 looks more exiting than ever.

On my first project with the Red One MX I had the time to play with the files and to grab some stills from the footage of the Red. The result is as good as a raw files from my canon 1dMKIV or 5dmkII. below some pictures

I was surprised to learn that one of the first cover made out of a stills from a motion stream (Red One) was for the Italian Vogue by photographer Greg Williams in august 2008…

One of a picture who has been selected to be the picture of the year by Surfer Magazine it’s a stills from motion (from a Red Epic) .

Red actually put online a short video to explain how to grab a still from motion with their software Redcine-X.

The new Light Room 4, which a beta version allowed you to grad video footage and select an in ant out point.

Early on this week I met a big client who told to me that they stop their paper catalogue and put the budget on the video. It’s changing so quickly and to illustrate It there is a great video called PressPausePlay a must see.

The Red Scarlet it’s a tool that open up to me to an all new area of creativity, I have to figurate a lot of technical issue with the still from a motion technique but the convergence still motion it’s happens right now.

After a two weeks break I am ready for 2012. I’ve got almost all my Red gear just miss the Scarlett X brain the Side handle and the base production pack, but Red touch LCD, 3x 64 gigs Red Mag, 2xRed stations, Red Bricks, Red volt and charger, Backpack Quick plate, DSMC Backpack, are already in the studio.
Just before Christmas with Blaise we try to put a second graphic card in the mac pro to try to speed up, unfortunately it didn’t work out.

The last week-ends I had the big honor to have been invited to Moscow by Xtreme Magazine for a special event who host a photo exhibition and several video presentation. I share great time with top photographers Dom Daher René Robert Christian Pondela and Timeline crew: Photographer  Tero Repo and Cinematographer Guido Perrini. Here is some Moscow Moments.
